Intermediate/Advanced Sewing Course

Course Information & Teaching Methods;

Over the 6 weeks, we will cover;

• An in-depth knowledge of fibres and fabrics, plus the terminology used in dressmaking.
• You will understand how to select the correct fabric for each project.
• Understanding different needle types, enabling you to achieve professional results with correct needle selection.
• You will also learn some of the decorative effects that can be achieved with various needles.
• Different types of seam e.g. flat-fell seams, mock fell seams and the French seam and when to use them in your projects.
• You will make a project during this course incorporating on of these seams.

Equipment;

The Arts and Crafts Centre has a variety of sewing machines available for you to use, but if you have your own you are welcome to bring it along and learn how to get the most from it.

You will need to bring:

• A4 folder and paper
• Pens and pencil
• Sewing kit (pins, scissors, needles etc)
• own sewing machine, if preferred (you may use one of the machines in the centre)
