CheckoutA mixed ability class where students will be able to pinch, coil, and slab or throw pots depending on what is appropriate for their individual chosen project and ability. There will be an additional charge for materials.
The course is suitable for people of all abilities. Students work at their own speed.
This is a workshop based course, each student is taught on a one to one basis according to ability and interest. When appropriate, group teaching of specific skills may be undertaken, e.g. demonstration of throwing on the potter’s wheel or using stencils for decorating. Students will be able to pinch, coil, and slab or throw pots depending on what is appropriate for their individual chosen project.
Sculpture projects can also be undertaken; there are plenty of stimulating books in class as well as examples and ideas
provided by the tutor.
We operate a relaxed learning atmosphere, other students may offer helpful suggestions and contribute to discussion, but the main objective is to improve and develop each student’s confidence in their own ideas and interests and their skills in the use of clay, various decorating techniques, glazing and firing of finished items.
The course is taught in a well-equipped studio.
Fired clay is not included in the price of this course. Payment will be charged by weight and type of clay used and number of items fired, approx £1.50 per lb - charges are displayed in the classroom and are liable to change depending on the suppliers cost. This will be clarified by examples of fired pots of various sizes shown at commencement of the course. All fired work must be paid for and collected on completion. Unfired clay can be recycled.
