CheckoutMixed Ability - Beginners will learn how to cut glass & be introduced to basic methods of assembly, making a small apprentice piece. More experienced can learn the advanced techniques of painting, firing, fusing & slumping.
Course Information & Teaching Methods;
This mixed-ability course is friendly, supportive and caters for everyone from total beginners (for whom this may be the first taste of a craft course) through to those who have attended previous courses and wish to develop the skills and techniques further.
Everyone works at a speed which suits them and they are encouraged to walk round and talk to others about the techniques they may be using and their progress on individual projects.
During the first session, beginners will learn how to cut various glass accurately using specialist glass cutters, be introduced to the two basic methods of assembly (lead and foil) and begin to make a simple, small
"apprentice" piece.
Teaching is usually one-to-one plus demonstrations and discussions. All specialist tools are provided and materials are all available to buy from the Centre.
Equipment;
During the course you will have full use of the Stained glass making equipment at Bedford Arts and Crafts Centre.
For the first session, please bring paper, pencils and a ruler and cloth apron would be useful and please wear shoes that cover the toes! Safety glasses are available at the Centre.
Course materials including glass and lead came are not included in the course price and these can be bought from the tutor/in-house shop: materials generally cost approx. £25.00 per 20cmsq
There will be an additional charge for materials.
Lucie Camus is an accomplished stained-glass artist with a specialization in glass painting. She began her training in a prestigious Parisian stained-glass workshop where she worked on the restoration of the dome of the Galleries Lafayette in Paris. Later, she attended the Glass School of Paris to further develop her skills in glass painting. After completing her education, Lucie worked for several Parisian workshops for two years before moving to Bedford, England. Since then, she has been working as a painter for the renowned Reyntiens Glass Studio in London. Her skills and attention to detail have enabled her to work on high-profile projects such as creating stained-glass windows for the Claridge’s Hotel in London. With years of experience in the industry, Lucie is a passionate artist who is constantly exploring new techniques and ideas to create unique stained-glass works of art.
